Applications
- EV auxiliary motors
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
- Industrial motor drives
This reference design demonstrates the use of silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs to optimize the performance of a motor drive for auxiliary motors in electric vehicles, as well as Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and other similar applications. This design features the top-side cooled U2 package that significantly increase system level power density and efficiency, while improving thermal management and board layout flexibility. SiC’s higher thermal conductivity and lower losses at higher switching frequencies enables smaller system size and cooling requirements, faster compressors and lower noise vibration harshness.
