Wolfspeed’s KIT-CRD-CIL12N-FMA is a dynamic characterization tool that can be used to evaluate and optimize switching performance of Wolfspeed’s WolfPACK™ SiC half-bridge power modules. A clamped inductive load (CIL) test circuit with current measurement provides a high speed; low inductance test fixture for double pulse testing. This test fixture in conjuction with a choice of gate driver boards options allows measurement of:

  • Timing (TDelay-On; TDelay-Off; TRise; TFall)
  • Overshoot (VDS-Max; ID-Max)
  • Speed (di/dt; dv/dt)
  • Switching Loss (EON; EOFF; ERR)

Specifications

  • Optimized for Wolfspeed’s WolfPack SiC half bridge power modules
  • DC bus voltage up to 1000V
  • On Board 200uF Bulk Capacitor and High Frequency Film Capacitor Bank
  • High speed; low inductance layout with stray inductance of 6.2nH @10Mhz
  • On-board Current Viewing Resistor (CVR)
  • Screw terminal‘s for supply; midpoint and load inductor connections

Advantages of SiC over Si for Unidirectional On-Board Chargers

This article is part of a two-part series that discusses the design considerations of OBC systems and the advantages that SiC has over Si in such designs. The practical advantages of implementing SiC over Si for OBCs are detailed in a head-to-head comparison of Si and SiC based OBC designs with a cost and system benefit breakdown.

Wolfspeed in Automotive Power Systems

This webinar highlights the advantages of Wolfspeed’s SiC portfolio for the automotive market. The impact SiC can have on a variety of applications including EV drivetrain inverter, 400 and 800V battery system, etc. It also compares systems benefits and reference designs (XM3 300kW, Vepco 180k). Second section of the webinar introduces SiC in EV OBC, 400 and 800V battery system, unidirectional and bidirectional, comparing system benefits and reference designs (6.6kW 650V, 22kW,1200V). The webinar and its content is in Italian language.
